Pain at times may be difficult to identify. In order to figure out which nerve is involved we at times choose to do selective nerve blocks to help diagnostically evaluate the pain generating nerve. Many times we use only a local anesthetic to differentiate the quality of pain. However to have more lasting results we use a sterilize based combination at times. These nerves may be located in the spine or peripheral region.
Many times a surgeon may ask for a specific block based on pain location.
